A new study in Mexico reveals that Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto has failed to reduce poverty in the country. Two million more people live in poverty than when he took office. Tens of thousands of members of a group that advocates for the rights of the Mexican poor rallied this week to demand that the federal government stop deceiving them and heed their demands for justice, quality education and better living standards.

On Thursday morning, local media reported that at least 35,000 protesters, split into several groups, were marching to the Los Pinos presidential palace.

..."We'll march to Los Pinos to demand that the Government Secretariat, and Deputy Government Secretary Luis Miranda in particular, stop deceiving thousands of Mexicans who have been promised justice, quality education and wellbeing," the movement said in a statement.

The secretariat "lies and doesn't fulfill its promises to address serious problems" in the western state of Michoacan, the central state of Mexico and the southern state of Oaxaca, the statement added.

This "mass rally" is the movement's way of getting its message across to the secretariat, which it accuses of repeatedly failing to live up to signed agreements.
