Tequila probably tastes better when flying one of these. (Avion)
National Tequila Day is July 24, and you could celebrate it at your local bar by knocking back a shot and chasing it with lime (or is it salt? We forget). Or for something a little more over the top, you could plunk down half a million dollars and ride a private jet to Mexico where the stuff is actually made.
Avion Tequila is promoting the “World’s Most Expensive Tasting Flight,” where for a tidy $500,000, anyone can take a VIP tequila-themed tour. The package, which you can buy on the same company page as a $12.95 T-shirt, includes the following rewards:
• A flight to Jalisco, Mexico on a private Gulfstream jet for you and up to 10 friends, along with Avion founder Ken Austin.
• A two-night stay at luxury boutique hotel Las Alamandas.
• Your own security detail.
• An on-call private butler throughout the trip to keep you fed while you’re downing all that tequila.
• A professional photographer and social-media person to document the experience, so you can leave your selfie stick at home. A private dinner courtesy of chef Josh Capon of New York restaurant El Toro Blanco.
As a souvenir, you’ll get not only a bottle of Avion from Austin’s private stash. Plus you’ll get to harvest an agave plant to be distilled into your own bottle, which you’ll receive two years later.
The deal is available well beyond Tequila Day and lasts to May 5, 2016.
