The Supreme Court’s decision to make same-sex marriage legal throughout the United States has added to the general feeling of celebration. The party spilled onto the streets in Mexico: “We are from Costa Rica,” said one man, flanked by his partner, “where one couple has managed to get permission for a same-sex civil union and that’s the most legal thing they have achieved. We are still being denied many rights in Costa Rica, so for us, its really great that the US has moved forward in this way.”
