Mexico: Over 2000 Changes Made to Homicide Data (teleSUR English)

Isabel Miranda de Wallace, president of the NGO Stop Kidnapping, told reporters that during the first five months of this year the number of reported cases of kidnapping was down 36.99 percent from that seen during the first five months of 2014.

At a news conference the NGO president said in May of this year 139 kidnappings were reported, which involved 180 victims. This was a 0.7 percent increase over the prior month when 138 cases involving 171 victims were reported.

Miranda de Wallace said that 70.5 percent of all kidnappings reported in May occurred in the states of México, Tamaulipas, Veracruz, Guerrero and Tabasco and the Federal District.

She noted that no kidnappings were reported in the states of Aguascalientes, Chiapas, Chihuahua, Colima, Nayarit, San Luis Potosí and Yucatán during May of this year.
