Fifteen years ago Mexico began building huge out-of-town housing estates to solve the housing deficit and provide affordable accommodation for the working class. But many of them are now riddled by unemployment and crime.
The country has the largest number of abandoned houses of all the 34 countries that make up the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development.
