The second storm of 2015 in the east Pacific has come ashore - and made history in the process.

Blanca, once a Category 4 hurricane, was a weak tropical storm with winds of 45 mph when it made landfall Monday morning in Mexico's Baja California Sur.

It is the earliest landfall of a tropical storm on record on the Baja peninsula, according to the National Hurricane Center.

As of 7 a.m. CDT, Blanca was located about 40 miles east-southeast of Cabo San Lazaro, Mexico, and was moving north-northwest at 15 mph.

A tropical storm warning was still in effect for Loreto to Punta Abreojos along the southwest Mexican coast, including Cabo San Lucas.

Blanca's center of circulation will stay over land, and the storm is expected to weaken to a tropical depression later today, the hurricane center said.

The storm is still forecast to drop 3-5 inches of rain over parts of Mexico, with isolated spots in Baja California Sur getting up to 10 inches.
