Mountaineers have discovered another mummified body on Mexico's highest mountain - the third frozen body discovered there in recent months.

The corpses are being uncovered as the glacier and ice packs melt on the 5,610-metre Pico de Orizaba, which is a five-hour drive from Mexico City.

But while the first two bodies are thought to belong to climbers who went missing after an avalanche 55 years ago, the latest was not found wearing any specialist clothing - sparking speculation that he died in a plane crash in the 1990s.

The third body was brought down from the mountain on Thursday, a spokesman for Chalchicomula de Sesma, the town nearest the volcanic peak, has said. But his identity is still being confirmed.
