President Pena Nieto Calls Mexico's New Anti-Corruption System 'Historic Step'

Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto has signed a constitutional reform creating a new anti-corruption system that he called a "historic step" for a country where corruption scandals continue to emerge.

In February, 2015, a series of conflict of interest scandals involving houses bought by Mexico's president emerged. In April, a Mexican official resigned after a public outcry over his use of a government helicopter for personal needs.

...The country’s new anti-corruption system establishes a special coordination council that will be tasked with detecting or preventing violations in this area, as well as punishing those involved in corruption schemes.
