PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), a multinational professional services network, released the results of its sixth annual survey of Mexico’s Chief Executive Officers. The survey revealed that 83 percent of the country’s CEOs consider corruption to be the number one threat to their businesses. That concern rose to the top in 2015 up from the fourth concern last year.

Jóse Antonio Quesada, partner with PwC and in charge of Mexican markets, said other threats that concern the country’s CEOs include the tax burden on the country, social instability, over regulating and the government’s handling of the country’s debt.

Quesada told reporters that the issue of instability is typical for a year in which elections are being held and he believes this concern will diminish.

Although the CEOs expressed these concerns, 50 percent believe their company’s income will rise over the next 12 months, while 42 percent believe the world economy will improve in that time period.
