The national commissioner against addiction, Manuel Mondragón y Kalb, said that Mexico is open to the dialog in the field of decriminalization, regulation and legalization of cannabis, and that each one of those topics is clearly different from the others.
In the field of addictions, the position of Mexico is to address the situation in the region from a public health standpoint, as he explained during the 57 Regular Session of the Inter-American Commission for Drug Abuse Control (CICAD) in Washington, D.C.
Mondragón y Kalb added that "it is necessary to strengthen the policies to reduce the levels of consumption, both in the psychoactive substances of legal tender as the illegal tender".
