A delegation of the families of 43 disappeared students of the Ayotzinapa Rural Normal School will tour several cities in Canada through May 2, carrying out various information activities with legislators, students, academics, trade unions and NGOs, the Tlachinollan Human Rights Center [of Guerrero] announced.
In a statement, the organization reported that a representation arrived yesterday in Vancouver, composed of Hilda Legideño Vargas, mother of the disappeared student Jorge Antonio Tizapa Legideño, and Jorge Luis Clemente Balbuena, a member of the student committee of the Rural Normal School. One April 25, Vidulfo Rosales Sierra, the lawyer from the Tlachinollan Center who legally represents the relatives of the 43 disappeared youth, will join them.
The delegation will meet with legislators and civil society organizations in British Columbia, Quebec and Ontario, to call on Canadian politicians and members of parliament to recognize the human rights crisis in Mexico. On April 28, in one of their main activities, they will testify before the Subcommittee on Human Rights of the Canadian Parliament in Ottawa.
During their tour of Canada, other public events will take place at the Harbour Centre and the Consulate General of Mexico in Vancouver, the University of Quebec in Montreal, the National Assembly of Quebec and the parish of St. Stephen in Toronto, among others.
