"Mujer Bestia," a film about the disappearance of a woman journalist, aims to say "enough is enough" to violence, fear and indifference in Mexico, director Noe Nolasco told Efe.

The movie, being filmed in Atzitzihuacan, Puebla state, is a tragicomedy that addresses forced disappearances, rape and a sexist bureaucracy in search of a new way to reflect reality, he said.

"This film is a way to raise our voice from our trench. We say 'enough' to the powerful stepping on the weak while we remain indifferent," Nolasco said.

From Atzitzihuacan, a village of 1,000 people at the foot of Popocatepetl volcano, actress Ofelia Medina told Efe that she is proud to participate in projects aimed at promoting calm reflection at a time when the entire country is in shock over the violence.

"There's too much suffering due to hunger, poverty and powerlessness," she said. "What does a woman feel when she cannot feed her children? What do we feel when students are disappeared? Suffering is Mexico's name today."
