Shipping containers are now becoming an accepted building material in many places, but Bill Hebner’s vision sticks to simple, introductory level housing that is affordable. He is willing to share the plans for the homes to make as big a difference as possible for those in need.

He says shipping containers are widely available, often discarded and easily transportable.

The beauty is it takes very few tools. “It can be built in the western world with all the luxuries of western culture or as a simple developing world or off-grid solution that is insulated to meet the specific environment the homes find themselves in.”

His book, How to Build a Simple Three Bedroom Shipping Container House, is a how to make it “Just right” with simple important things to keep in mind to make your simple home possible.
