Pink is the New Yellow for Mexico City Taxis (Mexperience)

Officials in Mexico City, who also want to offer passengers a safe, dependable taxi fleet, have recently decreed that Mexico City’s cabs should be pink.  And drivers aren’t pleased, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times.

As one driver told the Times: “Any color but pink,” said Edgar Diaz, who has been driving cabs for 17 years. This will be the third time he’s had to paint what is currently his white vehicle with red trim. “Yellow, red, maroon. I’d even take pistachio green.”

But Mexico City’s secretary of mobility, Rufino Leon Tovar, said focus groups were convened and pink — or rosa mexicana — was deemed the winner. Tovar said that by mid-2018, all of the city’s cabs will be the new shade.
