Beginning on January 1, 2015, the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFC) has changed the regulations for long distance calls made to another location in the country. Beginning on January 1 the charge previously made for a telephone call to a different city in the country will be abolished.
Changes for telephone calls from Mexico to another country will continue and will not be changed by the new ruling.
Currently if a person is calling from a landline to a cell phone in another city they must dial 045 first and then the area code and seven digit local telephone number. The IFC told reporters that time did not permit a change in that dialing procedure, but there will not be a charge for dialing 045. From the customer’s perspective it will be the same as dialing 044.
Likewise dialing a number that requires that 01 be dialed first, will be the same as dialing the seven, eight, or ten digit number, i.e., there will not be a charge for dialing a number that has required initially dialing 01.
