In a marathon meeting, the Mexican Senate approved the political reform of the Federal district, that will make possible that it becomes the 32nd state of the country.

If it is approved, the Mexico City will have its own Constitution and its citizens will acquire the same rights as the inhabitants of other states of the Union.

During the discussion five changes were approved and it was achieved what member of the Party of the Democratic Revolution Mario Delgado and Alejandro Encinas considered one of the major achievements: a constituent congress entrusted to write the constitution of Mexico City.

The solution was that there will be two assemblies: the legislative, which will operate until 2018, with its ordinary function, and a constituent assembly, which will have a regularity of only three months, in which it will have to give life to the Constitution of the new state of the Federation.
