Frontier Airlines canceled about a half-dozen flights to Mexico on Monday and Tuesday because of what the carrier labeled as a "communications outage." The disruption affected hundreds of customers flying on Frontier flights to or from Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos.
In a statement, Frontier pinned the Mexico cancellations on "a communications outage impacting large areas of Mexico." A Frontier spokesman told Denver's KMGH TV that the issue was with "a vendor utilized by Frontier for air-to-ground communication within Mexico."
The carrier said its Mexico service was resuming on Wednesday and that it would add six additional flights to help accommodate Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos fliers whose plans were disrupted. "We apologize for the inconvenience," Frontier said in a statement on its website.
Other U.S. airlines continued their service to those Mexican destinations, prompting some Frontier passengers to voice frustration that other airlines didn't seem to be affected by the same communications outage.
