MEXICO CITY - Angry young people and parents who took to the streets protesting against abduction and probable massacre of 43 students in September clashed with riot police Monday before seizing the airport in Mexico's Pacific coast resort of Acapulco.

Some 700 protesters confronted police trying to prevent them from reaching the airport, throwing rocks and other objects, the daily La Jornada said on its website.

"Three police officers were reported injured, one of them had to enter surgery," the daily said.

After about 30 minutes of negotiations, authorities allowed the marchers to continue on to the airport, where they blocked the facility for three hours, demanding the perpetrators be brought to justice.
