Mikel Arriola, Director of the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risk (Cofepris), told reporters that in the first half of next year Mexico will get the new vaccine against dengue developed by the pharmaceutical company Sanofi Pasteur. This will make Mexico the first country to get the vaccine and Arriola said that the vaccine could be given to people by the end of next year or the beginning of 2016.
The pharmaceutical company that developed the vaccine said that it hopes to have 40 to 50 million doses ready by the end of 2015 and distributed to countries that request it.
...The states of Sinaloa, Baja California Sur, Veracruz, Oaxaca and Guerrero account for 54 percent of the 23,533 confirmed cases of dengue fever reported in the country.
