TIJUANA, BC - The inhabitants of the Tijuana River Channel complained today to Mayor Jorge Astiazarán Orcí about the abuses of authority, beatings, rapes, extortions and murders, which are presumably committed against them by some of the Tijuana Municipal Police. The mayor, after touring the area, asked them to make formal complaints, and also anybody who is a witness to these crimes.

Astiazarán Orcí reminded them that he will not tolerate any corruption from the municipal police, but at the same time it is important that these crimes be reported when they occur.

On the other hand, he said that the inhabitants of the channel, which could be up to 1,500 persons, have also committed crimes against citizens due to the problems most of them have with drug addiction.
