The Mexican Movement of Solidarity with Cuba (MMSC) reiterated its rejection to the blockade the United States has maintained against that country for more than 50 years.

In a statement issued yesterday of the voting to be run at the UN today about the draft bill demanding the end of that unilateral policy against the island, the MMSC describes the siege to Cuba as a genocide action.

It is a massive, flagrant and systematic violation of human rights of a people, the statement stresses.

Washington also disrespects the sovereign right of all countries in the world to engage with Cuba without fear of punishment. "It is a violation of international law, the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations and the norms of free trade," the text says.

It also recognizes that the financial, economic and commercial blockade against that Caribbean nation is also a violation to the constitutional rights of U.S. citizens, denying their freedom to travel to Cuba.
