PRD Senators Demand Investigation Into Party Mayors and Governors Victor Mayen - The News

MEXICO CITY – Democratic Revolution Party (PRD) senators demanded National PRD President Carlos Navarrete Ruiz to investigate the possible involvement of PRD mayors and governors with organized crime and drug traffickers.

PRD Coordinator in the senate Miguel Barbosa Huerta said on Thursday that senators asked Navarrete Ruiz to investigate all municipal and state governments under the PRD banner to ensure no party member is linked to criminal activities.

“A few days ago, we asked the national president that all PRD municipal and state governments should get a certification by the federal Attorney General’s Office, the National Defense Secretariat, the National Navy Secretariat, the Research and National Security Center and other intelligence agencies proving that the governments have no ties with criminal groups, organized crime or criminal activities,” said Barbosa Huerta.

In response, Navarrete Ruiz said that PRD has a legal obligation and the political conviction to encourage investigations of all governments, especially its own.

“Now is the time for full transparency,” he said. “Political parties can stop being a mysterious closed box. Yesterday, we began to evaluate over 300 PRD governments.”
