The students of the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN), in Mexico City, are discussing the government response to their demands, including the commitment to check reforms to the internal regulations and the syllabus.
Interior Minister Miguel Angel Osorio met during the week with representatives of the IPN students in the wake of a march involving 18,000 students from Casco de Santo Tomas to the Revolution Monument, and then to the Interior Ministry.
Osorio gave the government's response to the students' demands, including that the Bank and Industrial Police stops dealing with security of IPN premises.
He also promised that there won't be reprisals against any student, schilar or professor for their involvement in the protests. "You, the people from the Polytechnic (IPN) have shown that you can make demands, and do it with respect," he said.
