Undocumented immigrants made a bold attempt to enter the United States early this week by using a panga boat to storm Mission Beach in San Diego.
The horde drove the small fishing boat onto the beach and then sprinted over the seawall across the boardwalk and into an alley. Witnesses reported that about 20 people dressed in dark clothing made their way into an alley, where they were able to change clothes before several of them were apprehended by Customs and Border Patrol Agents.
A second panga was apprehended around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday by Customs and Border Patrol Air Interdiction Agents 12 miles west of Oceanside that had 20 people on board. The 13 men and 7 women from Mexico, Guatemala, and El Salvador were turned over to the U.S. Border Patrol at Oceanside Harbor.
Two men in that panga will be prosecuted for human smuggling.
