One of the leaders of the Mexican left-wing, Cuahtémoc Cárdenas, called Wednesday for all young people to reinforce the fight to annul the energy reform.
The measure, pushed by President Enrique Peña, privatized large sectors of the Mexican oil and gas and electricity industries for the first time in 76 years.
It also allows for private companies, both domestic and foreign, to conduct oil exploration and partner with the state owned oil company Pemex.
Cárdenas, three times candidate for three separate presidential runs, met with young members of the Democratic Revolution Party (PRD by its acronym in Spanish) in Mexico City.
The leftist leader called all those in attendance to collect more signatures in order to demonstrate to the Supreme Court that a majority of the Mexican population is against the recently approved energy reform.
