Inauguration of the Museo del Cráter de Chicxulub (Especial)

State officials, researchers, scientifics and academics led the opening of the new “Chicxulub Crater Science Museum” located in the upper level of the Yucatan Science and Technology Park Library.

At the ceremony, Governor Rolando Zapata Bello declared that: “the opening of this museum initiates a series of tasks designed to promote learning and knowledge of the Chicxulub Crater and its general relation to life on Earth“.

“Guided tours for children from all public and private schools in the state of Yucatán is an important part of this program”, he added.

“This is an open access for the people to approach science and research. We want to invite our society to come to this museum, make it a part of their own and turn it into a space for reflection and debate on knowledge,” Zapata Bello said.

The new facility consists of four thematic halls, “The Universe and Solar System,” “Chicxulub Crater Impact“, “Evolution and Biodiversity” and “Yucatan and its Natural Environment.”

... Museum working hours: Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 10:00 am for school groups, and from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm for the public.
