Todos sabemos que el bullying no es un juego. #Basta de acoso escolar. (Basta MX)
An online campaign declaring that #ElBullyingNOesUnJuego ("Bullying is NOT a game") is taking on Mexico's growing school bullying problem, with some help from celebrities. The campaign is spearheaded by actress Yolanda Andrade and @Basta_MX ("Enough Mexico"), an initiative supported by the National Crime Prevention Centre.
The campaign was launched in reaction to the tragic death of a 12-year-old boy who was reportedly thrown into a wall by classmates at school in Tamaulipas state. The death sparked outrage across the country, with President Enrique Pena Nieto vowing to increase efforts to fight bullying. The Secretariat of Public Education also released a plan last week to curb school violence and train teachers and administrators to deal with the problem, which has been on the rise in recent years.
