This map shows the amount of rainfall forecast by the European (ECMWF) model from now through the indicated time on the map. Note that this is a generalized forecast, and local effects from the rugged terrain may cause amounts to be higher or lower in some areas.
Tropical Storm Boris has formed just off the Pacific coast of southeastern Mexico. It originally became Tropical Depression Two-E about 225 miles south of Salina Cruz, Mexico on Monday.
Boris is drifting slowly to the north and is expected to make landfall by Wednesday morning near the border between the Mexican states of Oaxaca and Chiapas.
Tropical storm alerts have been issued for the Pacific Coast of Mexico, from Salina Cruz eastward to the Mexico/Guatemala border. Scroll below to view details regarding the system as well as locations of tropical advisories.
Little if any strengthening is expected to occur before landfall. However, winds are not the primary threat from this storm system; freshwater flooding from extremely heavy rainfall will be by far the largest menace to life and property.
