Secretary of Government Relations Miguel Ángel Osorio Chong in Morelia (Iván Sánchez)
MORELIA, Michoacán - Secretary of Government Relations Miguel Ángel Osorio Chong stated that the arrest of Servando Gómez Martínez, La Tuta, is one of the federal government's main objectives, but it is not the only one, since it has now also embarked on a relentless struggle against extortionists and kidnappers "who have damaged and wounded society."
Interviewed after a meeting of a thousand midwives and traditional medicine practitioners held at the facilities of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) in Morelia, the federal official emphasized that although there has been significant progress in public security in the state, federal forces will not withdraw until calm is completely restored and the Michoacán Attorney General, the state's Secretariat of Public Security and the police forces in each municipality are "constituted" [respected].
Osorio Chong declared: "It doesn't matter if we take a couple of months or several more months, because when federal forces withdraw from this place, it will be because society already has confidence in its security forces. That's the goal, and that's the objective. For now, the federal forces will remain here in the state."
