A rare cross between a zebra and a donkey has been born at Reynosa Zoo, northern Mexico. (independent.ie)

Reynosa Zoo in Mexico have said the zonkey, named Khumba, was born on April 21.

His mother is a zebra called Rayas, while the is father is Ignacio, a dwarf albino donkey who lives on a nearby farm.

Khumba is a rare case in the animal world because the zebra and donkey chromosomes are not usually compatible.
