Could you spend a day without producing any garbage?

That’s exactly what Global Citizen and the sustainable brand initiative Ekocycle are encouraging people all over the world to do today.

A Day Without Waste is the culminating event in a six-week initiative to move individuals to take action for greater environmental benefits.

“We’re asking everyone to take a step back and look at their everyday patterns of waste consumption in an effort to encourage even the smallest change,” said Ryan Gall, the co-founder of Global Citizen, a nonprofit organization that seeks to build support for progressive action on a variety of issues including education, food security, and sustainability.

... So far, thousands of people in 39 countries have signed up to participate in a Day Without Waste. And the organization is hoping to get 15,000 individuals to commit to living a day without producing any waste by Earth Day on April 22.
