Norma Bastidas, a survivor of human trafficking and ultra-triathlete, arrived in Laredo last week, making her trek into the United States through the Gateway to the Americas Bridge via a bicycle.

Bastidas started her journey by swimming 90 miles in Cancun on March 1. Bastidas is doing the trek to raise awareness of human trafficking as well as attempting to enter the Guinness Book of World Records.

She became a victim of human trafficking when she was kidnapped for a short period of time in Mexico City.
