TIJUANA - The Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals (AMPI) demanded that the federal government create legislation to regulate the activities of real estate transactions through a federal license that will reduce crimes and guarantee the legal certainty of those who acquire property.

Martha Ramírez Gallegos, president of the Association pointed out that the new tax legislation and money laundering laws generate risks of fraudulent activities in the sale of real estate, and so it is necessary that only accredited professionals holding a federal license be the only ones involved in real estate transactions.

During her message during the swearing in of the Board of Directors of the Tijuana Real Estate Professionals Association, Ramírez Gallegos was critical of the fact that the new tax regulations and laws against organized crime did not also include a specific regulation to remove salepeople from the market who do not meet the minimum ethical standards, nor legal knowledge, a situation which causes fraudulent sales and illegal activities.

Ramírez Rubio asked the federal government to create a law the obliges real estate professionals to have a federal license to operate.

The director of AMPI, swore in the board of directors of Region 1 of AMPI in Tijuana, which is headed by Laura Oliva Navarrete Salgado.

In the course of being sworn in, the new president of the Tijuana AMPI pointed out the certification of guild members and training course in the new tax legislation and money laundering controls.
