The Cumbre Tajin is an annual artistic and cultural festival which is held in March. (Cumbre Tajín)
The Governor of the Mexican State of Veracruz, Javier Duarte de Ochoa, officially inaugurated the 2014 “Cumbre Tajín Festival” last week, calling it a worldwide example of how to communicate and promote the Mexican culture nationally and internationally.
Cumbre Tajin offers many activities to the visitors who come to Veracruz, including art exhibitions, concerts, workshops, expositions and film showings.
“I want to welcome everybody to this event, which allows us to proudly show off the culture that defines us and gives identity to the people of Veracruz,” Duarte de Ochoa said. “This is a shared achievement with local communities that have been honored by UNESCO, the National Council for Arts and Culture (Conaculta) and the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) for their natural and human value. Year after year, the Cumbre Tajín creates a meeting point between civilizations and a door between two worlds with their own identity.”
The Mayor of Papantla, Marco Romero Sánchez, said that he was pleased to receive thousands of visitors to what he said was the “cradle of Totonac culture.”
