Some people ask how much it cost to live in Mexico. The answer is it varies depending on the lifestyle of the individual, however, it is very possible to live here in Mexico on $500 a month.
You will need some kind of motorhome, camper, R.V. or be willing to rough it in a tent.
The cost to park right on the waterfront in our area is $8 a night. Actually there are beaches which can be camped on without any charge at all.
The difference between a free beach and one that you pay for is there are outhouses, and in some cases water provided on the paid beaches. If you are fully self contained, there are lots of places where you can stay for free.
Fresh water is available at the nearest town, usually free, but drinking water must be purchased from a water store which charges $1.10 for each 5 gallons. You must have your own water jug.
You have an option of eating what the Mexicans eat or eating what you are used to at home. A lot of people mix the two to cut the cost. The difference is price, and one could live on $50 a week eating mostly Mexican food or $100 a week eating a lot of products which the Mexicans don’t normally buy.
... And are we happy down here? Well this is our 14th year in Mexico, so you can guess.
