The Gendarmerie Division of the Federal Police Force already has 3,200 officers trained in courses which last three to six months. 17,000 people were examined to make up the division, of whom 80% failed the initial trustworthiness tests, according to information from the National Security Commission (CNS).
In response to requests for public information, the branch, directed by Manuel Mondragón y Kalb, indicated that until the middle of January there was no defined uniform or colours for the Gendarmes to use in their work.
With respect to the application of the trustworthiness exams, a CNS officials revealed that "just to create the Gendarmerie more than 17,000 polygraphs, toxicology, psychological and medical tests were applied. It was from these that it was determined that 9 out of every 10 were not suitable for the force."
According to official statistics, from January 2012 to June 2013, a total of 24,653 people who sought employment in any division of the Federal Police Force were considered "not capable" or to be individuals who "didn't fit" the established profile.
