Surfing is Everything: Gabriel Medina (Rip Curl)
Featured in the video is a beachbreak in the southern part of Oaxaca, Mexico. With prevailing offshore winds and a swell window that looks right into the south Pacific, it’s the perfect venue to demonstrate what the future of surfing looks like.
“A perfect day for me is when you surf all day, getting barreled and doing airs. If I could surf all day long, I would do that,” says ASP World Tour standout Gabriel Medina in the video above.
Luckily for Medina, it’s his job to surf all day long. The goofyfoot from Maresias, Brazil, stormed onto the World Championship Tour in 2011 and promptly won two events in his rookie year. A fiery and passionate competitor, Medina finished the 2013 season ranked 14th in the world. And while many competitors would be happy with that, it’s got to be considered a letdown for one of the world’s most electrifying surfers. But judging by the content of the new video by Medina below, look for a huge rebound (and even bigger airs) from him in 2014.
