MEXICO CITY – Democratic Revolution Party (PRD) Senate Coordinator Miguel Barbosa Huerta said that his party will seek to unite the party with National Regeneration Movement (Morena) leader Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) and former presidential candidate Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas in an attempt to temper the negative effects of energy and tax reform.
Barbosa Huerta has come back into the spotlight after a long fight with diabetes to mobilize the leftist political factions.
He said that this shift in direction will try to bring the PRD closer to the social movements so that the causes of the party and the people coincide, to fight hikes in electricity and gasoline prices.
“We recognize Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas as our leader who heads this whole fight in defense of our country, for the defense of petroleum, which people shouldn’t think is over or think that there is no chance to turn the tide,” Barbosa Huerta said.
