Mexico's self-proclaimed "Grand Warlock' held a news conference in Mexico City on Friday (January 3) to present his predictions for 2014 on topics ranging from the World Cup to economic crisis.

Antonio Vazquez, known as Mexico's "Brujo Mayor" or "Grand Warlock" said that he predicted Brazil would win the World Cup but structural failings at stadiums would cause social disorder.

"Mexico will win the first game, Mexico will lose the second game against Brazil and will tie or lose the third game. That has been perfectly catalogued. A problem in Brazil we have seen in 2013, the engineering and architectural structures at the stadiums are terrible. I think they will get rid of one of the stadiums where soccer will be played because it won't meet with the quality and security requirements needed. They will have problems and they have been creating a series of terrible infrastructures which will definitely collapse. We will have a lot of social disturbances in Brazil but Brazil will be champion."

He added Greece's and Spain's economic woes would continue.

"Greece continues with its crisis, they can't get out of it. Tourism is good. The Chinese are helping out as a power there but it will remain in those circumstances. Spain manages to survive but does not emerge from the crisis. There is very little work. The economy is terrible and a lot of people are coming over here."

Vazquez also predicted a good economic year for Mexico.

President Enrique Pena Nieto recently enacted a sweeping overhaul of Mexico's ailing energy sector which is aimed at boosting growth in Latin America's No. 2 economy.

The reform changes the constitution to allow private companies to operate independently or partner with state oil giant Pemex via new types of contracts.

"All eyes in the world are placed on Mexico. We will have a very powerful increase in industrial activity. A lot of companies from various parts of the world will come to set up shop here to manufacture here, to build here and I think we will have very strong economic movement we should make the most of. There will be a lot of work and circulation of money."

The Warlock has warned that his predictions are not definitive, saying that any of his forecasts could be counter-acted or totally changed with magic spells, prayers or by people taking actions or changing attitudes to prevent them.

Vazquez has a long history of making predictions and discussing esotericism, having first been broadcast on television in the 1960s.
