Well-Strung with US President Barack Obama

This is their third season with all their past shows sellouts. Now they have an all-new show Summer Lovin' and the crowd was super-excited. They are one very talented singing quartet of string instrumentalists.

They recently released their new CD “POPssical” which blends their classical training with popular music. Show numbers tonight included featured cuts from that CD.

Well-Strung stars on first violin Edmund Bagnell, second violin Christopher Marchant, viola Trevor Wadleigh and cello Daniel Shevlin. All four are remarkable and terrifically talented in addition to being fine singers. That they are handsome and personable add to their appeal and strong following.

They opened the evening with a solid display of what lay in store this evening. Their voices blended in exquisite harmony while creating exquisite sounds from their strings.

It is difficult not falling for Well-Strung with their bouncy energy and happiness glowing from their faces as they sang and played classical and pop, sometimes in a mashup. They never veer from the classics, like when sitting down and presenting a Mozart composition. The music swirling in the rafters is a blending of classical rifts and themes with recent pop successes. Song titles were displayed on the back screen so the audience could follow their journey through composers as Bach into popular songs in recent history.

Since Well-Strung was here last season, they have experienced many appearances on television and even audiences with Hillary Clinton, daughter Chelsea and President Barack Obama. One member related that they had opened for Britney Spears at a recent Las Vegas show. They have hit the big time, deservedly so. Here on a Puerto Vallarta stage they were adored and applauded.

One member delighted in their return to this tropical community for its "Eternal Summer" and "Puerto Vallarta Summer Nights." "Let it Go" from Disney's "Frozen" was a paramount performance and the guests responded with love and appreciation.

During the show break, their recent video called "Chelsea's Mom" played in entirety: WELL-STRUNG Chelsea's Mom

A remarkable instrumental display occurred when they jumped head first into Charlie Daniel's "The Devil Went Down to Georgia," a contest between Johnny and the Devil. The violins soared as fiddles and they commanded attention to the words "Fire on the Mountain. Run, boys, run". Well-Strung gave a wildly stunning interpretation, mixing vocals with strings.

Sometimes the musicians started with a classical piece then floated into pop, as the fabulous Radiohead's "Creep", with a string background. "But I'm a creep. I don't belong here." This standout was astounding in vocals and lyrics.

Please be aware that their shows are sold out well in advance, so plan ahead and secure your seats. Once inside the room and listening to the performance, you will understand why.

Well-Strungs' Summer Lovin' will be performed at The Palm Cabaret Puerto Vallarta through February 19 with shows at 4:00, 7:00 and 9:30 pm.

Tickets may be purchased at the Palm Cabaret Box Office, Olas Altas 508 in Old Town Vallarta (opens daily at 10:00 am), telephone is (322) 222-0200, or you may purchase tickets online at Vallarta Tickets.
