Sordid Best & Southern Baptist Sissies by Del Shores Team Angels - Act II

Join us at Act II for an evening of wrongful hysteria from the twisted, demented mind of oh-so-sordid funnyman Del Shores.

If you are not yet steeped in Del world, he is the unabashed creator of Sordid Lives, Southern Baptist Sissies, Blues For Willadean, as well as being a writer and producer on Queer as Folk. The censors will be absent, the language will be crude, the stories will be raw and if you are offended, "that's your choice" Del warns.

We'll be serving 2X1 cocktails beginning at 6:00 pm.

The fun will be moved to the Main Stage of Act II for the international film premier of Southern Baptist Sissies.

In 2000, Del Shores wrote a play called Southern Baptist Sissies exposing the painful journey of growing up gay in a church that preaches it is a sin. It has been produced by over 30 theatre companies across the country, and won countless awards for Del's productions and for other productions as well, including the GLAAD Award for Best Los Angeles theatre. In 2006, a national tour starring Leslie Jordan, Dale Dickey and Delta Burke played to sold out houses across the country.

Southern Baptist Sissies is the story of four boys who are gay growing up in the Southern Baptist Church and how they each deal differently with the conflict between the teachings of the church and their sexuality.

There will be an "after and before party" beginning at 9:00 with free food.

The party will move to the Act II Red Room at 10:00 pm where Del will perform live with "My Sordid Best" where he shares the real-life stories that inspired his writing, sets the story straight on his celebrity encounters and on what it was like growing up in the South and coming out as gay. And that's just the boring stuff! "Look, I've had a rough few months, okay. I'm bitter and mean, so no telling what I'll say this time!," Shores warns. "Del says what most people think. He has no censor -- on or offstage. Audiences love him because of his ‘bless-their-hearts' Texas charm," explains comedian and actress, Caroline Rhea. Hilarious and poignant, ribald and raucous, this hysterical stand-up performance promises something to offend everyone!
