Thousands flock to Mexico's Pyramid of the Sun to mark spring equinox (euronews)

According to authorities, 135,000 people visited the archaeological site to celebrate the beginning of the Spring equinox 2017.

Local and foreign tourists visited the site about 48 km outside of Mexico City, expecting to be "charged" with energy and good vibes from the ceremonial place.

There were long lines of people who wanted to climb the 238 steps to the top of the Pyramid of the Sun with 63.5 meters, the largest site in Teotihuacan and one of the largest in the region.

Visitors wore mostly all-white clothes and lifted their arms toward the sun to receive positive energies and participated in rituals that connect with Mother Earth and thus obtain spiritual tranquility.

The equinox is the astronomical phenomenon by which the day lasts the same amount of time as the night, an ancestral sign of balance between light and darkness.
