Mexican police have arrested Omar Treviño Morales, leader of the infamous drug cartel Los Zetas, local sources said.
Morales, also known as the Z42, was nabbed at about 4:00 a.m. local time during an operation the Federal Police jointly conducted with the Mexican Army in the town of Garza Garcia.
Los Zetas are Mexico's largest drug cartel in terms of geographical presence and they are known for torturing and beheading their victims.
The Z42 replaced his brother Miguel Angel as the Los Zetas boss after Miguel Angel's arrest in July 2013.
