Thousands March in Mexico City to Protest Disappearance of 43 Students (RuptlyTV)
MEXICO CITY - Thousands of people have marched through the Mexican capital to protest the disappearance of 43 students as their families demanded their return within two days.
An estimated 25,000 students, union members, teachers and ordinary citizens, many dressed in white, set off on the march Wednesday from the city's Monument to the Angel of Independence to the central Zocalo Square.
"There were taken alive and we want them alive," the crowd chanted as they marched behind family members of the missing teacher trainees.
"We want to tell our colleagues that we are looking for them and that your friends, families and neighbors are waiting for you at the Ayotzinapa Rural Normal School" where those who disappeared were studying, one of the parents of a missing student said.
At a rally at the end of the march, another parent blamed the authorities for the disappearances following an altercation with police in the town of Iguala.
