Smartphones are forecasted to represent 50.3 percent of Mexico's overall mobile telephony lines by the end of 2014, up compared to 34.9 percent by the end of 2013, according to a study by Mexican consultancy firm Competitive Intelligence Unit (CIU).
By the end of the second quarter of this year, Mexico had a total of 102.9 million mobile lines, of which 42.3 million were smartphones.
Meanwhile, the consultancy firm forecast that smartphones will account for 68 percent of total mobile lines in the country by the end of 2015.
